More Otakon News from Bandai
|The Escaflowne movie is expected to premier in theaters the second week of January, with a subtitled version going to art theaters and a dub version for wider release. Bandai is considering showings in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto. The home video release will premier between four and seven months after the conclusion of the theatrical run.
Jin-Roh will open in the Los Angeles area on August 31. Further release dates will be updated on the official Jin-Roh homepage.
“Pilot Candidates” (Candidate for Goddess) will premier on home video on November 7th on the first of 4 DVDs. The limited edition Cowboy Bebop DVD boxed set will also go on sale in November for $199.98. The set will include a soundtrack CD, possibly an expanded domestic version of OST 1. The box will be sold separately, but there’s been no word on whether the separate box will also include the CD.
The Gundam 0083 and Saber Marionette J OAV series will debut on DVD in January 2002. There’s still no release date for a Saber Marionette R DVD because Bandai of America has apparently misplaced their video master and is awaiting a replacement copy from the Japanese studio. The 24 Japanese broadcast episodes of Love Hina will debut in the US in February. Jin-Roh will be released on home video sometime in early 2002 in movie-only and special edition formats. Magical Stage Fancy La La and Saber Marionette J to X are scheduled for release in spring 2002.
Betterman will premier in the US sometime after Love Hina. The original Gundam movie trilogy will be released on bilingual DVD sometime next year, as will the Counterattack of Char movie.
Gundam 0080 and Gundam 0083 will both be shown on the Cartoon Network before the end of the year. The broadcast date for Pilot Candidate has yet to be decided.
There’s still no word on an American license for the Cowboy Bebop movie, but Bandai is engaged in a bidding war with several other companies over it.
