Navarre Considers Selling FUNimation
|The Navarre Corporation has hired investment bank Houlihan Lokey to assist in the potential sale of the FUNimation subsidiary. Navarre’s announcement states that “Funimation’s recent results have generally met expectations,” but FUNimation’s future will necessitate “co-productions of original anime content, social networks and digital broadcasting” that fall outside of Navarre’s core future concentration on distribution and software publishing. No prospective buyer for FUNimation is named, and Navarre emphasizes that its strategic analysis may not result in a sale of the FUNimation subsidiary.
Navarre acquired Funimation Productions, afterward known as FUNimation Entertainment, in 2005.

I think “Neo-ADV” is going to jump ALL OVER THIS!
If they bought FUNi they would control nearly ALL anime in the usa.
Not to mention get the rights to EVA back. I can see this happening.
I think this has been “Neo-ADV”‘s strategy all along. Defraud the living crap out of anyone who they can scam money off of, and wait and circle the carcasses of the others.

That said, I don’t see it happening. I don’t think “Neo-ADV” has even the money that CrunchyRoll would bring to the table, and I see them as the most likely suitor, who would liquidate all other holdings but the licenses and take everything digital, being the end of DVD dubs in the United States.
Matt Greenfield said at one point in the last 5 years that the live action eva movie would be 3 films and cost about $300,000,000 to make. He then stated that they had over half of that much ready to fund it. I can’t see them blowing $150,000,000 in 5 years.
