New Amano and Oshii Animation Projects Confirmed

Japan’s VIPO (Visual Industry Promotion Organization) will host the Tokyo Project Gathering during this month’s Tokyo International Film Festival. The goal of the Tokyo Project Gathering is to promote co-production or financing of 20 new projects to international investors and distributors. Some of the highlight projects to be promoted include:

• Elle is burning!, a sci-fi action film written by Mamoru Oshii and directed by Kenta Fukasaku (Battle Royale II)
• N.Y.SALAD ~Vegetable Fairies, a full CG animation based on illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano
• Princess Ai ~Ai-land Chronicles~, a live action and animation adaptation of TOKYOPOP’s Princess Ai manga series.
