New Capcom Announcements

As a result of slumping arcade hardware sales, Capcom has confirmed that they will be reducing their development of arcade software and concentrating on developing games for home consoles in the future, but contrary to internet rumors, the company will not be withdrawing entirely from the arcade software business. According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Capcom’s arcade game sales have dropped to 5000 units, relative to the peak of 80,000 units several years ago.

Capcom also announced that they will debut Capcom Vs SNK 2 at the Tokyo Game Show at the end of the month. Capcom has also announced a Dreamcast upgrade of the original game to be titled Capcom Vs SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, which will make all of the original hidden characters initially selectable and include 2 new characters- one Capcom and one from SNK.
