New DVD Dates

Anime on DVD has compiled reports of upcoming new anime DVD releases from various sources. AnimEigo will apparently release the 4 episode Vampire Miyu OAV series on 2 DVDs available on May 29th and June 26th. Baoh will also become available on DVD on May 29th. Some or all of Akira, Elf Princess Rane, Fencer of Minerva, Gundam MS 08th Team, Jungle de Ikou, Metal Fighter Miku, Nadia, Pure Love, the Dirty Pair OAV series and Media Blasters “Tales” H OAV series may premier on DVD in June. RG Veda will hit DVD for $29.99 on August 14th, and the Irresponsible Captain Tylor OAV series will be released as a single DVD boxed set on August 28th with a retail price of $89.95.

Anime on DVD has also learned that the retail price of the special edition Akira DVD set has been raised from $34.95 to $39.95. A limited number of the special edition Akira DVDs will come housed in a metal tin, probably similar to Anchor Bay’s packaging for their numbered, limited edition DVD editions of films including The Evil Dead and Repo Man. Most likely, either pre-order editions, or the entire first production run alone will come in the tin.
