New Gainax Announcements

Gainax announced at the recent Tokyo 40th Annual SF Show that Top O Narae! Gunbuster 2, a second series of Aim for the Top! Gunbuster, will be produced with character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Eva, Nadia) and direction by Kazuya Tsurumaki (FLCL, Nadia, Eva). No release date was announced, nor was it confirmed whether the release will be TV or OAV series or theatrical film.

Gainax also announced plans for an anime adaptation of their popular PC, Playstation & Dreamcast life simulation game series Princess Maker, and plans to move forward with an anime production of Blue Uru, Hiroyuki Yamaga´s follow-up to Wings of the Honneamise. Blue Uru was first announced nearly a decade ago and has been “in limbo” for at least 8 years. The Automatic Maiden Mahoromatic TV series directed by Hiroyuki Yamaga is scheduled to premier on Japanese broadcast satellite TV in October, and Yamaga’s Abeno Bashi Maho Shoutengai (Abeno Bridge Magic Shopping Center) TV series is scheduled for debut early next year.
