New Hideshi Hino Manga Coming to America

Tokyo-based DH Publishing (Anime Poster Art) is set to release a series of horror graphic novels by Hideshi Hino under its Cocoro Books imprint. Diamond Comic Distributors and SCB Distributors will release two titles by the horror comics master per month starting this spring with a couple of Hino’s most disturbing works, The Red Snake and The Bug Boy. None of the Hino titles released by Cocoro have ever been printed in English before, though some American fans may be familiar with Hino’s distinctive and disturbing style thanks to the Blast Books edition of Hino’s Panorama of Hell, which was published in the U.S. in 1990.

The Red Snake and The Bug Boy will be published unflipped (right-to-left) in the standard 5″ x 7″ format and will carry a cover price of $9.95. Hideshi Hino is one of the most distinctive manga-ka in Japan with a visual style that mirrors the twisted behavior and psyches of his protagonists. Hino’s books are not for the faint of heart.
