New Licensing Announcements

Image Entertainment has announced that they will distribute the 25 episode 1997 Hyper Police anime TV series in America beginning on August 23rd. The first DVD volume will contain 4 bilingual episodes and retail for only $19.99. Hyper Police, based on a (slightly ecchi) manga by Mee-kun, the creator of Adventures of Kotetsu, is best described as a futuristic anthropomorphic version of You’re Under Arrest starring a cat girl, a fox girl, a dog-man and a werewolf.

Bandai representatives apparently accidentally confirmed at last weekend’s Project A-kon convention that Bandai will be releasing the second Crest of the Stars anime TV series in America, Seikai no Senki (Battle Flag of the Stars). An official confirmation will be forthcoming at next month’s Anime Expo.
