New Live Action Ashita no Joe Movie Planned
|The Daily Cyzo web magazine reports that actor/singer Tomohisa Yamashita (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Kurosagi) will star as Joe Yabuki in a new live action film adaptation of Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba’s classic boxing manga Ashita no Joe (Tomorrow’s Joe). The 1968-1973 manga series remains one of Japan’s most beloved manga stories. The story was adapted into two anime television series, two theatrical anime films, a spin-off OVA series, and a 1970 live action film directed by the late Yasuharu Hasebe (Stray Cat Rock, Black Tight Killers). The movie will reportedly lens from late March until May.

Ashita No Emo?
I hate Japanese Live Action adaptations late this days; all have to had the “Ikemen” treatment, rendering gay the story. This going to be worst than Kaiji…
