New Studio Ghibli Works Announced

The latest animation work from Studio Ghibli has been formally announced as “Iblard Time,” an OVA scheduled for DVD and Blu-ray release in Japan on July 4th. Iblard Time is an animated tour through the fictional world of Iblard, created by Japanese artist Ioue Naohisa (who created the designs for the fantasy sequences of Ghibli’s film Whisper of the Heart).

Toho has formally announced that director Hayao Miyazaki is now developing a new, original anime film titled “Gake no Ue no Ponyo” (“Ponyo On A Cliff”). The “Little Mermaid” style story revolves around the goldfish princess Ponyo and a 5 year old human boy named Sosuke. Reportedly, the film will be produced in a traditional, entirely hand drawn and manually animated “watercolor and pastel-like” style with no CG enhancement or digital animation.
