No Anime at Academy Awards

While at least Jin-Roh and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust were submitted as candidates for nomination to the “best animated feature” category of this year’s Academy Awards, the nominees have been announced, and no anime films are on the final ballot for this year’s awards ceremony. Not all films submitted for consideration of an Academy Award are nominated, and the “best animated film” category was narrowed down from 13 candidates to 9 nominees. The AMPASS does not provide explanations for why particular films are or are not selected.
