No Anime At Oscars

While both Jin-Roh and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust were submitted as candidates for possible inclusion in this year’s Academy Awards voting, yesterday’s announcement of final nominees reveals that both films have been eliminated from contention. The category of “Best Animated Feature” this year will consist of “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Shrek.” In a more surprising revelation, the Final Fantasy movie is not on the final ballot for any Academy Awards at all in categories including technical fields of animation, sound and editing.
