Opening A Day
|To refresh your memory or introduce you to an interesting opening animation sequence, I submit the ultra-minimal opening of the 1997 Eat-Man TV series. The opening theme is “Chiisana Koi no Melody,” performed by King-Show.
If you thought the Gosenzosama Banbanzai opening was minimalistic, get a load of this! If nothing else, it’s certainly unique.

Yeaaah! Melody! Melody! Melody!
Seriously, though, I’ll never forget the first time I saw this opening. Seeing those bold, minimalist titles and listening to Kenji Ohtsuki’s manic singing, I just knew Eat-Man would be completely different than anything I had ever seen before. And since this show was one of the pioneers of late night anime, this OP must have been very striking for Japanese viewers back in 1997, too.
