Opening A Day
|To refresh your memory or introduce you to an interesting opening animation sequence, I submit to you the spoiler free first opening of the Working!! television series from last April. The theme song is “SOMEONE ELSE” sung by Kana Asumi, Saki Fujita and Eri Kitamura.
Observant viewers will notice that the animation quality in this sequence is especially good. Look at Inami shaking Takanashi at :59, or how fluidly Kozue moves at 1:05, for example. Furthermore, little details like the follow-throughs on Inami’s punch at :30 and Kyoko’s kick at 1:25 didn’t have to be included but are. Really nice work on this OP.

This is my favorite anime from this year. Such great characters.
Here’s hoping for a season 2.
Anime this adorable kind of scare me.
it was an amusing, brainless sitcom… the sort of thing you gobble up but don’t remember watching a month later.
On its animation quality… Ever since Kannagi, through Sora no Woto and Working!!, animation studio A-1 Pictures has given me the impression of a reverse-engineered Kyoto Animation (of K-On, Suzumiya Haruhi and Clannad fame)… I’m talking about that consistently smooth, yet really indistinct animation quality. This is as opposed to productions that are driven by individualistic, animator-centric moments (e.g. key battles, or sometimes entire episodes) patchworked together into something that banks up & down, left & right in terms of animation quality & sensibilities
in other words, I feel like I’m seeing more things recently that go for the indistinctly smooth animation that I usually attribute to Kyoto Animation, from studios like A-1 and Ufotable and Production I.G. and etc.
Seanny, that’s an interesting point – particularly the observation of very fluid animation that’s not characteristic or attributable to a single animator like Yoshinori Kanada or Ichiro Itano, for example.
