In loving memory of the late Satoshi Kon, today’s outstanding opening sequence comes from Kon’s 2006 film Paprika. The theme song is Susumu Hirasawa’s “Mediational Field.”

I love it. It’s a lot of fun!
Totally loved seeing this in theaters, the scale of some of those transitions (and others in the film) is truly delightful.
I liked seeing it in the second theater, but the first they screened it at for the Oscar run was a pain in the ass to get to. I almost didn’t like the movie because I missed about 10-15 minutes of it.
