Opening A Day
To refresh your memory or introduce you to an interesting opening animation sequence, I offer the first opening of 1986’s Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ TV series. The theme song is “Anime Ja Nai” sung by Masato Arai.
I really like the way this opening acknowledges continuity in the Gundam franchise.

It’s unfortunate that Char and Amuro are mysteriously absent for the entirety of this series. They made the opening credits, sure, but they were off getting ready for Char’s Counter Attack, so they simply don’t appear for reasons unsaid.
The opening sequence was probably the highlight of the first half of ZZ Gundam, as the plot itself was thin and very jarring on the heels of Zeta Gundam for about 23ish episodes.
The continuity always came off as a running joke to me. But oh well.
