|To refresh your memory or introduce you to an interesting opening animation sequence, I offer the opening of 2006’s Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z TV series. The theme song is Nana Kitade’s “Kibou no Kakera.”

While I have mixed feelings on this anime, I’m surprised it never got an official release on Cartoon Network in the States.
I have heard of at least an English pilot (probably done in Canada) but, again, it doesn’t seem like anything has come of that.
I’ve watched a little of this show subbed on YouTube but have to admit it’s difficult to sit through. It’s an ultra-cute nonsensical show that will make some people puke.
As much as I like the original version of The PowerPuff Girls, I liked the animation and character designs of this version better. It just seems a lot more vibrant and dimensional than the original show.
The writing is a different story, though! Between that and the cutesy voices, it just killed the show for me… Really expected better than what was produced. Still, it’s not as if this is worse than any of those lousy card shows that are popular on CW Saturday and Cartoon Network.
