Persona 4 Anime Announced
|Anime producer/distributor Aniplex has formally announced that studio AIC ASTA is developing a TV anime adaptation of Atlus’ Persona 4 RPG. Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid) will direct. Original game designers Kazuma Kaneko and Shigenori Soejima are providing anime series concept designs and original character designs, respectively. The Japanese voice cast of the original game will reprise its roles for the anime adaptation.
The Mayonaka-TV website hosts an announcement teaser trailer.

This has me interested but I think they should have done one based of persona 3 first. I didn’t enjoy the characters or setting in persona 4 as much as I did persona 3.
I think Persona 4 is the more straight-forward one to adapt, so I wasn’t surprised I guess. Persona 3 is a very strange product– a contrast of mundane school life and the very macabre other-world of shadows, evokers, shady conglomerates and the apocalypse, and a main character with a rather nebulous identity.
Not that Persona 4 is devoid of those weird contrasts, but it’s easier to think about adapting due to its smaller scale & scope, and a slightly better-defined main character (a normal guy staying with his relatives).
