Sammo Hung to Direct Soul Calibur Movie

The Official Sammo Hung homepage has confirmed that Sammo Hung has been contracted to direct a live action Soul Calibur martial arts film. Production will likely begin later this year with a budget hovering around $50 million for American theatrical release in summer 2002. More than likely, production studio Rhythm & Hues will provide CG effects for the film. Rhythm & Hues has previously worked on special effects for the X-Men movie and the Ron Howard production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Sammo Hung has directed numerous films in his career, including acknowledged martial arts film classics The Prodigal Son, Dragons Forever, Blade of Fury and Mr. Nice Guy.
