SAO Special to Stream Worldwide

Aniplex has announced that next year’s Sword Art Online: Extra Edition TV special will be broadcast worldwide immediately following its Japanese television broadcast. The Aniplus cable channel will broadcast the special in Korea. The LeTV streaming site will stream the special for Chinese viewers. The Wakanim streaming site will deliver the special to French viewers. Crunchyroll and Daisuki will stream the special online for viewers in most of the remainder of the world. The two-hour special will feature an original story set after the end of the TV series. Sword Art Online author Reki Kawahara contributed to the composition of the new adventure. The special will feature revised character designs based on new designs drawn by original novel series illustrator abec. The cast and staff of the 2012 TV series will reunite at studio A-1 Pictures for the special. The special will air in Japan at 10pm on December 31 and premiere internationally at midnight on January 1.
