Shigeru Komatsuzaki Passes Away

Veteran illustrator and model kit designer Shigeru Komatsuzaki died of heart failure on December 7th at the age of 86. Komatsuzaki provided some character designs for Toho’s 1959 sci-fi action movie The Mysterians and advertising art for the Kaitei Gunkan Atragon novels by Shunro Ohshikawa. However, Komatsuzaki may be most recognized for his world famous illustrations and model kit box art based on Gerry Anderson’s sci-fi puppet show Thunderbirds.
