Sitges Film Festival Awards Announced
|Several Japanese genre titles were recognized at the 2004 Sitges International Film Festival, the world’s largest fantasy film festival.
- Three… Extremes, directed by Takeshi Miike, Fruit Chan & Park Chan-Wook took the Best Make-Up award
- Takeshi Miike’s Izo won the award for Best Special Effects
- Old Boy, directed by Park Chan-Wook, based on the Japanese manga by Garon Tsuchiya & Nobuaki Minegishi, won the award for Best Film, and recieved the Jose Luis Guarner Critic Award
- Katsuhiro Otomo’s Steamboy was recognized as Best Animated Film
- Shinya Tsukamoto’s Vital was given the “New Visions” award
- Director Hayao Miyazaki was presented with a special jury award in recognition of his career and works. His latest film, Howl’s Moving Castle, recieved the Audience Award for Best Film
- Mamoru Oshii’s Innocence was awarded the Orient Express Casa Asia Award
