SNK America Closes Shop

An official announcement will be made on June 13th that SNK will pull out of its American and European offices. This will affect the distribution of their products for Neo Geo Pocket, Dreamcast and PlayStation. On Monday SNK will send a recall notice for all in-stock products to domestic retailers. This includes King of Fighters 1999: Dream Match for the Dreamcast and Neo Geo Pocket color games and hardware. Games shown at the E3 convention, Cool Cool Toon and King of Fighters ’99 Evolution will not be released outside of Japan by SNK. The company will continue to produce games and systems in Japan, and there is a possibility that third party publishers could pick them up for domestic release.
