So I Was Wrong
|Last December I predicted that Dragonball: Evolution would gross a $15 million opening weekend on its way to a $50 million American box office total. I was way off. The film opened domestically with a mere 4.6 million first weekend, and it’s so far earned just over $25 million throughout the rest of the world during its first month of release. At least I wasn’t the only one to overestimate the film’s potential appeal, as ICv2 reports that the movie’s opening was “below many analysts’ expectations.”
I like Dragon Ball, and I’ve watched countless bad movies, but even I’m skipping this one, at least for now.

Don’t feel bad. You’re still more right than those idiots at FOX who claimed that they were doing what was best for the film. [Kind of ironic that they were actually talking about rebooting Fantastic Four around the same time this turd and Chun-Li got such a negative reception. They’re attributing it to TDK, but we all know better.] BTW, they’re lying about its $45 million budget. It’s $150 million, according to a guy who knows Ramsey at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvYk7NG1u88&NR=1 .
Comics/Animation movie adaptations just keep bombing and bombing and bombing… Just when we think we’ve seen the worst box office results (‘Speed Racer’), we see a titanic drop the following year (‘Watchmen’) and an impossibly bad opening not soon after (‘DB: Evolution’). It’s a never-ending cycle.
I can’t believe it cost them $150kk to make. If they did, where did it go? Certaintly not in the special effects..They must have all gone and bought mary jane in mexico and smoked it all up.
But ok, honestly who thought the movie was going to do well?… …. …. ..(*cricket) (*cricket). .. Did I just feel a breeze.. ….
Well anyway I sure did, And below Ill explain why. BTW for those who saw the movie, Im actually being quite kind, there is a WHOLE lot more I can talk about, but Ill just keep my mouth shut, otherwise I wont be able to sleep tonight.
ANYWAY.. Lets disect the above “DB: EVOLUTION” (what ever that’s supposed to mean) poster above.
*NOTE I’m not nitpicking, Im just telling it as it is. Im not one of those fans who thinks everything should be exactly as the original source was, but I do believe in the truth…
What is “Goku” doing…He NEVER EVER has held a DRAGONBALL like that, Dragonballs DO FLY, but they aren’t controlled. But ok I can look past that obvious error…
WHO the hell is that to the right of him? All I see is a pretty chick.
AND to the left? Again… All I see is a pretty chick.
AND last but CERTAINTLY not least the chick in the far back.. She may have been the only one that actually was cast done right, although its rather insignificant because how many people even know, or give a crap who MAI is.. Its the main characters that count.
Finally we come to the guy in the back. Well dont get me started, but that CAN’T POSSIBLY BE Ma..Ma..Master Roshi… WTF ?? I know its DB, but…Ill just leave it at that..
So as you can see, before you even entered the movie theaters, BEFORE you even paid for the ticket, We all knew secretly it would suck, all you had to do was look at the poster.
BTW, this link’s for people who actually saw DB: E legally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTPwQ5yqSfA
IMDB says the production budget was $45 million, not $150 million.
IMDB’s just taking down whatever FOX claims is the budget. Box Office Mojo says N/A, Chatwin says $120 million, and the guy who knows Ramsey says $150 million. So believe whatever seems more convenient, I guess.
Anyway, if anyone cares, someone on IMDB leaked Ramsey’s script. http://dragonballmovieblog.net/Dragonball%20Z.pdf
Film Just fails dont care it sucks I hate it! (I hate all DBZ’s anyways….)
