Arizona-based toy production company Southern Island LLC has reportedly declared bankruptcy and ceased all operations. The company’s website is now offline, and its company phone lines have been disconnected. Southern Island was one of America’s original licensors to produce toy merchandise based on anime franchises including Blue Gender, Case Closed (Detective Conan), Fruits Basket, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Bankruptcy liquidator BK Assets will reportedly begin auctioning about 9,740 new toys from Southern Island’s inventory on December 11 on auction site eBay.
