Square USA Closing

Squaresoft representative Jun Aida announced this past Monday that barring any unforseen events, the Square USA in Honolulu, Hawaii will close on March 31. Negotiations to sell the studio to a major Hollywood studio have apparently moved too slowly to satisfy Square USA’s parent company, Squaresoft of Japan. Unless a surprise offer to purchase the studio arrives between now and March 31st, plans for any further Square produced CG animation films or any possible future American produced Square USA games will become an impossibility. The Square Honolulu studio produced the Final Fantasy movie, as well as Square games including the Parasite Eve series.
