Steamboy to Hit America in October

Katsuhiro Otomo’s latest anime film, , will be released to Japanese theaters on July 17th. Yahoo Japan reports that the film will be released in North America, England, France and Italy this October. The North American release date was picked in part to make sure that the movie would be eligible for next year’s American Academy Awards nomination.

At 2.4 billion yen ($21.6 million US dollars), Steamboy may be the most expensive anime film ever produced.
