Summer Con Tidbits

The Utena Movie, “Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence Apocalypse,” will make its 35mm North American debut at Anime Expo. Directed by AX guest of honor Kunihiko Ikuhara, with character designs by AX guest of honor Chiho Saito. The Utena movie takes the characters of the popular television series into a whole new light. Two showings of this film are being planned, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Anime Expo has also announced that due to the number of families attending the convention, they will be running a special day long children’s programming room, with material suitable for all ages.

FUNimation Productions and FUNimation Store will be attending Anime Expo as exhibitors and arranging for special guest appearances from the American voice actors for Dragon Ball Z.

Chris Beveridge, maintainer of Anime on DVD, will be attending Otakon this year as an American guest. Beveridge will likely be in an anime on DVD panel at the convention.
