Tatsunoko Sues Over Unauthorized Speed Racer Distribution

Anime studio Tatsunoko Production has filed a one-million dollar lawsuit against American company Speed Racer Enterprises (SRE) executives Michael S. Cisneros and James & John Rocknowski. Tatsunoko claims that SRE’s distribution license for the Speed Racer/Mach Go Go Go anime franchise expired in May 2011, yet SRE continued to represent, distribute, and exploit the license after May 2011, including sub-licensing the Speed Racer property to over a dozen other companies including Lions Gate and Toonz Entertainment.
