The Ninja Scroll That Never Was
|In 2008 Warner Brothers and Appian Way acquired the rights to produce an American film adaptation of Madhouse’s 1993 anime film Jubei Ninpucho, widely known as “Ninja Scroll.” Evidently as recently as 2012 Dracula Untold director Gary Shore was still developing plans for the American film. Shore has now publicly released the proof of concept film that he directed for Warner Bros.’ executives as a rough demonstration of his vision for a motion captured CG animated film adaptation. The CG quality is relatively primative because this short was only meant to be a visual aid, but even in its very rough form it’s strikingly faithful to its source material and cinematically dynamic. Based on this demonstration, I do think that a high quality CGI rendition of Jubei Ninpucho could work.
The video contains graphic, bloody violence.

Reminds me of that crappy Mortal Kombat direct-to-video cartoon they made in the 90s.
Also, this is exactly what’s wrong with Hollywood. Why redo it in CG, if it was perfectly fine in *2D*?
Know its suppose to be a CG movie, but I’m betting they were considering live action.
