TMNT is the (Old) New Spongebob?

ICv2 reports that Nickelodeon is “trying to replace its aging hit franchise, Spongebob Squarepants, which is losing ground in the ratings,” with “a bigger slate of new programming” that includes the brand new CG Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. Well that seems brilliant: replace a 13 year-old franchise with a 28 year-old one.

Wait, so now Splinter and the turtles got their origin from Detective Conan?
