Toho Theatrical Schedule Announced

Ain’t It Cool News has published a list of some of the high profile films Toho studios will release in the coming months.

“Honogurai Mizu No Soko Kara” directed by Hideo Nakata (“Ring”) will premier in Japanese theaters this month.

Kihachi Okamoto, perhaps most famous in America for his 1965 film Samurai Assassin and 1966 classic Sword of Doom, will have his latest film, the samurai comedy “Suketatichiyasukeroku” in Japanese theaters in March/April. Also out around that time will be the latest Doraemon movie “Nobita to Robot Okoku” and Tree of Palme (Palm no Shigeru). Five years in production, the science fiction adventure story Tree of Palme is directed by Takashi Nakamura, who has worked on such classic anime as Akira, Nausicaa, and the Macross movie. The official Tree of Palme Japanese website includes images and a short trailer in Quicktime and Windows Media formats.

The fifth (?) Detective Conan movie, “Baker Gai No Borei” will premier in May.

Studio Ghibli’s sequel to Whisper of the Heart, “Neko No Ongaeshi,” and the second “Ghiblis” film will premier in June. The fifth Pokemon movie will follow in July.

Yamazaki Takashi’s sci-fi action/gunplay film Returner, starring Kaneshiro Takeshi, will premier in Japanese theaters in August.
