Tokyopop Recalls Spring & Chaos DVD

In response to complaints about poor picture quality and “dubtitles,” Tokyopop has issued a recall of all special edition copies of the recently released Kenji’s Spring & Chaos DVD. The DVD will be remastered and repressed to provide true DVD image quality, and the subtitles will be upgraded to an accurate, literal subtitled translation. The Tokyopop announcement stated, “We are completely committed to delivering the highest quality products and are incredibly excited about the launch of our new TOKYOPOP® Anime line. For us to have missed the encoding errors in Spring and Chaos – our first anime DVD – was inexcusable.” “Upon review of the issues, it was clear that nothing less than a recall of the discs would be fair to our customers.”

Consumers that already have a copy of the disc are urged to return the disc alone, not the entire case, or their sales receipt, to

Replacement copies should be available in mid-July and may take 2 to 4 weeks for delivery after that. Replacement copies sent out from Tokyopop will include a Spring & Chaos poster to further express apology for the inconvenience.
