Toshokan Senso Live-Action Movie Trailer

The first trailer for the live-action Toshokan Senso movie has appeared on Japanese television. The adaptation of Hiro Arikawa’s bestselling six-volume “Library Wars” novel series revolves around a young female member of the “Library Defense Force,” an organization of librarians that take up arms and go to war against political factions that threaten to censor freedom of literary expression in 2019 Japan. The movie starring Nana Eikura (Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru) and V6 idol group member Junichi Okada will open theatrically on April 27.

The novel series was adapted into a 2008 anime television series and 2011 anime feature film.

I still don’t understand how or why this patently ridiculous concept is so wildly successful.
