Tsukumo Nominated for Oscar

Director Shuhei Morita’s “Tsukumo” (“Possessions”) segment of Katsuhiro Otomo’s anthology film Short Peace has been nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Animated Short Film. The CG short follows a samurai who takes refuge from the rain inside a mysterious small shrine. The segment from the Sunrise studio will compete against “Feral” from animators Daniel Sousa and Dan Golden, “Get a Horse!” by Lauren MacMullan and Dorothy McKim, “Mr. Hublot” by Laurent Witz and Alexandre Espigares, and “Room on the Broom” by Max Lang and Jan Lachauer. The Oscar winners will be announced on March 2.
