Uncut Slayers DVD Petition

Apparently, in addition to the audio defect some consumers may notice on the recently released Slayers first season DVD boxed set, it has come to light that about 50 seconds of footage is missing from the final episode. This footage was originally on the sub VHS release but was (accidentally?) omitted on the dub VHS release, whose masters were used for the DVD version. Anime on DVD is currently sponsoring a petition to encourage Central Park Media to restore the missing footage on a corrected, second pressing of the box and/or include the missing footage in the Slayers Try DVD box (as it’s now to late to add material to the Slayers Next DVD set.) Your editor’s personal opinion is that the footage should be restored in a version of the first DVD set re-pressed to correct the faulty audio rather than included on the Slayers Try set. It seems awkward to have to refer to the third season DVDs to watch less than a minute of out-of-context footage from the first season. Your editor’s opinion is, though, that the footage should be restored in one way or another. Anime fans buy DVD to own the best possible version of an anime series. Missing footage seems contradictory to the very essence of the DVD medium. To share your own opinion and help convince CPM to correct the error, sign the petition.
