Upcoming OAV Announcements
|Following up on the Comic Party TV series, which dealt heavily with “real” anime fandom in Japan, Clockworks and Beam Entertainment will distribute a 3 episode OAV series titled Cosplay Complex early next year. “Cosplay” is the abbreviated Japanese term for “costume play,” or dressing up as a favorite anime character or character type like nurse, school girl or maid.
Bandai Visual and Gonzo Studios are at work on a big budget 5 part OAV adaptation of the sci-fi novel series “Yukikaze” by Chouhei Kambayashi to be titled Sentou Yousei Yukikaze. Yukikaze will focus heavily on digitally animated ariel fighter combat in the style of Macross Plus. For that reason, the production staff has already visited the Komatsu Air Force Base for research. The first 45 minute long episode of Yukikaze will be out next spring for 5800 yen, and Bandai hopes to have the remaining 4 half-hour episodes out in Japan by the end of 2002.
