Uta Koi Anime Announced

TYO Animations (Tamayura ~hitotose~) is developing a TV anime adaptation of Kei Sugita’s historical drama manga Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi. Kenichi Kasai (Nodame Cantabile, Honey and Clover) will direct the josei (targeted at young adult women) anime loosely based on the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu collection of 100 romance poems collected in the late 1100s. The poems are used in the traditional Japanese karuta card/memory game. The anime TV series will premiere this summer.
