Sony will be shipping a new model of PlayStation 2 in Japan this summer, with the model number updated from SCPH-10000 to SCPH-15000, it is rumored that the new version will have different internal designs to prevent the mod chips from working.

Sunrise Interactive will be releasing their first Playstation 2 title this summer. The Gundam mech combat simulation game G-Savior, presumably based on the long-delayed Japanese live-action Gundam film of the same name, will be released this summer, in DVD media for 7800 yen.

Nintendo of Japan’s president Hiroshi Yamauchi has confirmed that Nintendo’s next console system, currently known as the Dolphin, will be released to the Japanese market in March 2001 with a US launch sometime in early 2001. Yamauchi also confirmed that the name “Dolphin” will not be the final name for the new system.
