Wii Don’t Stand for Piracy
|24-year-old Australian James Burt has agreed to pay Nintendo 1.5 million Australian dollars ($1.3 million USD) plus Nintendo’s $100,000 in legal expenses in a legal settlement stemming from Burt’s illegal upload of the New Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo Wii six days before its global release. Nintendo charges that it lost thousands of sales as a result of the game being available for free online without authorization. “Nintendo will pursue those who attempt to jeopardise our industry by using all means available to it under the law,” the company said.
