World Premier of Dubbed Initial D Movie Announced

The Big Apple Anime Fest has announced that it will host the world premier of TOKYOPOP’s English dubbed version of the Initial D Third Stage movie. The screening will be held on August 29th at 7:00pm at Loews State Theater in New York City’s Times Square.

Based on information in BAAF’s press announcement, the English dubbed movie will use TOKYOPOP’s altered, “Americanized” character names, but will retain the original Japanese soundtrack. The official press release also states that the movie is a continuation of the “Second Stage movie,” when no such film actually exists. The Initial D Third Stage movie is a continuation of events from the 13 episode Initial D Second Stage TV series.
