X Japan Goes to War

Japanese music news site BARKS reports that the members of rock band X Japan will be the first real life celebrities to appear as playable characters in the online strategy game Character Wars (“Character Daisakusen”). X Japan co-founder, drummer, and pianist Yoshiki will debut as a playable character this Saturday. Vocalist TOSHI and the late guitarist HIDE will become available as game characters next month. Players gain permanent use of a character after purchasing the character for 2,000 yen. It’s unclear, presently, exactly how Yoshiki’s drum solos and piano playing will work into the game based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
