Youkai Zukan Anime Announced

Kodansha has announced that a series of “KutsuDaru” anime shorts will premiere on the NHK Educational network on April 2. The series about 44 “youkai” (traditional Japanese monsters) that make people’s socks fit loosely is based on artist Masafumi Goto’s 2011 full-color illustrated “youkai” guide book Kutsushita ga Daru Daru ni Nacchau Wake ~Imadoki Youkai Zukan~,” which was a spin-off from the original “Tokyo Youkai Zukan” (Tokyo Youkai Encyclopedia) illustrated serial that Goto began in 2007.
